What is Challenge 22
Learn more about what Challenge 22 is....
Suicide Prevention is Everyone’s Business
Challenge 22 Program for the Rochester and Finger Lakes has been organized by and is managed by the Marine Corps League (Memorial Day Detachment 468) and the American Legion (Canandaigua Post 256).
Challenge 22 goal is to raise funds to assist local service people, veterans and their families as their needs arise. The main focus is to fund programs that help reduce the possibility of the individual committing suicide.
Challenge 22 program does not give the money directly to the individual in need, nor do the funds go to National fund raising activities. The funds are raised and distributed locally (Rochester and Finger Lakes).
Challenge 22 funds raised through this program will be distributed to four organizations. These organizations have been selected as they serve the requirements and goals of our program. They have the programs and activities in place to help meet the individual’s needs. The organizations that Challenge 22 has selected for 2022 are:
1. Canandaigua VA Center
2. Equicenter
3. Warrior Salute
4. Marine Corps Coordinating Council
Challenge 22 program has two major activities
1. To solicit donations from Individuals, Companies, Corporations and Community and National organizations. Through this activity we will identify and promote program sponsors
2. Host a community activity event on May 21, 2022. The event will be held at the Canandaigua American Legion. There will be a number of events the the community may participate in. Attendees may walk, eat, be entertained, just observe or learn about the programs that selected organizations provide.
Challenge 22 program members recognize and understand there are many individuals in need in our community. Our goal through this program is to help as many individuals and families as possible. We want to assure you that your donation is really appreciated and it will all be used to help meet this goal.
